Actually, i want to post about this, because, before i put myself, engulfed by the Spain thingy (truly exaggeration :D), i have an absolute-no-idea about Kulim and my life here. Well, here I'm talking for those who get the offer to further your studies in Spain. Like who the hell had gone to Spain and further studies in engineering. List me at least 3 names that you know. Come on :P 


okay, for those who are going to fly to Spain is actually called Pre-Spain student. well, ppl rarely know about this. in fact, this Spain thing is quite newby in Malaysia. The 2nd batch just flew on September 2011. now, here in Malaysia is the 3rd and the 4th batch. 


so, where should we start. 


oh, btw, for those students, you're going to have your A level studies in UniKL MSI. so where are you thinking the place is ? KL ? it's near KL, well, what i meant is Kelang Lama. bahhahaha ! well, UniKL MSI is at Kulim, Kedah. but dont worry too much, Kulim, is not that really hujung dunie ke ape. It's okay laa, not that cowboy town. :P 


UniKL is actually near with Kulim Hi-Tech. and yes, it's definitely in front of Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah which is double triple bigger than this little cutey Unikl Msi.

and right behind UniKL, there are a few shop-lots. i try to list out any shops that i can :

• Tat Nasi Ayam
• Nasi Ayam Hong Kong
• D'aura bakery 
• Al Ikhsan
• something haemodialysis 
• Hijrah Mart
• another 2 marts
• photocopy shop
• salon for muslimah
• bank islam
• Laundry Shop

then, walk a lil far from the nearest shop lots :P

• Old Town White Coffee

about the bank stuff, mostly students use Bank Islam or CIMB for the MARA's loan. ATM booth for CIMB was just placed in Unikl ( a big relief for most of us ) then, there is Bank Islam at the shop lots. oh, and all that shop lots thingy is called Kulim Avenue. sounds woww isn't it ? but, it's actually just like normal one. 

and along the street next to UniKL, there a few restaurants. Mutiara Junjung, Sila Sila, Medan Selera Ikan Bakar, TEJA (liked by the most), and burger stall at night. 

okay, as i said, Kulim is not that 'hulu'. so, there is one Giant, well that's the only mall other than un-lively Kulim Mall which has nothing ! other than tailor shop. okay, so, usually students will take a cab, unless you bring along your car. then, there will be no problem. For the cab from UniKL : 

• to Giant (Kulim Landmark Centre)  is RM8. 
• to bus station is RM8
• to Bukit Mertajam RM30
• to Butterworth RM40
• to Airport RM80-100

so actually, for go-home transport. you can take bus from the Kulim station bus, which is near to pekan Kulim. and in fact, for the public-ers. you can go to Penang by taking bus from Kulim to Butterworth. It costs RM3 for Jadam. i think only Jadam left to Butterworth. Then, from Butterworth station bus, you can take ferry or go wherever you want. 


And special for those who want to go to airport. as you arrive at Butterworth station bus, you can take ferry which cost RM1.20. Then you can take Rapid Penang to Airport (401E) for RM2.70 . So, better keep a small change and syilings. Taking the bus won't give your baki balek okay ? hehe. Taking the bus is quite crowded by foreigners. Is not that i anti them, but somehow, you will feel like you're in a foreign country. The total time taken to arrived at the airport is about 3 hours.

So, Kulim is not that bad right ? :)

for the pasar malam, it will be every Thursday. Em, you can walk from UniKL to the place for approximately 15 minutes. (you can still get the sticky sweats). and for Ramadhan, the bazar will be opposite the pasar malam. And opposite the pasar malam also got Nasi Lemak Bapok, well-known punya nasi. Delicious though. 

Owh, at pekan Kulim, you can find The Store, Nasi Kandar Pelita, one bundle shop( i list it because i like the, emm, design ? :l ) , Balai Polis Kulim ( frequently shown in news for rempit problem, and Kulim really do have many rempits), CIMB, Maybank, Danish restaurant ( for awesome nice cheesy lava roti nan ), Shell and shops called i-cant-remember :P 

I can say, most of the students now use telefon pintar ( sounds funny :P ) , it's actually smartphone. whatever smartphone laa, IPhone, Samsung, HTC. maybe you don't have one yet, just wait till you get that 1 sem allowance, BAM ! New girlfriend/boyfriend which is the new smartphone ! hehe. So, for smartphone, it's actually important to have mobile data. okay, what i want to say is about the broadband/mobile data coverage. I try to tell what i know. So, don't judge me for commenting their speed or whatever okay ?

For the coverage in Kulim, you shouldn't expect too much, although it's near Kulim Hi-Tech ( well Hi-Tech doesn't mean any really high). I have a few friends using P1 Wimax, which is a good one. Watch Youtube smoothly, most days laa. but sometimes also got downed. For Celcom, im sorry, but it's an almost-ultimately slow. i didn't say ultimately slow, but, it's quite slow. For Maxis, it's fast and the coverage is good. For U mobile, Kulim can only get the coverage for 2G with the same speed as Celcom, so, not helping. Digi, Im sorry, i dont have a thought about it. What else ? Oh, UniKL do provide wifi. but you know laa, as loads of people using it, the speed becomes extra superb fast kan. if you can deal with the lightning-fast speed, then, it shouldn't be a problem.

Oh, i almost forgot. Since you're reading this entry, so I assume that you're not from Kulim. So, as someone who is not from Kulim, you must want to go jalan2 right ? hehe. For jalan2, if you need a car, you can rent one, near UniKL,  just next to the Uni. For Kelisa(auto) you can get RM100 per day and Kelisa (manual) RM90. About other cars, i dont know. sorry. I talked from what my friends and i have experienced.

Now, should i start with what's inside UniKL MSI ? 

For boys, you have Casa Malaga, Casa Cordova, Casa Zaragoza, and i-cant-remember. As for girls you have one and only Casa Valencia for living. The hostels is 3 students per room. Either you get one single one double-decker, or both double-decker. And the locker is different for boys and girls. Since boys have less clothes, they going to get half size then the girls. And the room is un-tiled floor. So, get yourselves a tikar getah and brooms. The rooms' size are different. It depends on your luck. Study table for each person in a room. And And And, the room and toilet is seperated. As usual, the toilet will be at hujung-est. 2 washer machine and dryer are provided. The machines only accept 20 sen and 50 sen. They have CCTV in each floor and stairs. 

Now, the cafetria. It's in front of Casa Valencia. Sorry for boys, in front of your casas is the parking space. At cafeteria, you can find

• a dusty ko'op ( sorry, but it's a fact). They sell maggi, junk food and some stationary. 
• photocopy and print shop
• D'Halba cafe 
• 23 March cafe
• Myza Cafe
• Cendol and roti canai 

there is a new shop for this new sem, but i didn't know what shop. The lazy-ness is striking, so i just list out major seen properties of UniKL MSI.

• Workshops
• Tennis court
• Volleyball court
• Futsal court
• Parking lot
• Field

seriously, UniKL MSI is really a small place. When i say small, it's really small. 

okay, type off. Below is a lil briefing for PreSpain students. It will be continued in the next entry which i dont know when will that be. Sorry :D

Okay, for the MARA's offer to Spain, it's stated in the offer letter right ? A Level Sepanyol, Kejuruteran. I can't really remember the exact words. So, it's the Pre Spain. The ratio girls in this course is approximately 1:5 . So girls, you can have 5 boys each. LOL. just kidding. In UniKL, don't be surprise if the OCs (orientation crews, i guess. haha ) say that PreSpain students don't mix around with others and nerdy. Well, the PreSpain students are really well known with that. It's like we chopped a 'nerdy' blue ink on our forehead. and fyi, to not know someone who knows you is not a big problem for PreSpain students. Not to be proud, but somehow, we're quite known by the diploma and degree students.
